Based
in Cwmbran, South Wales, we are a long-established family firm.
It was Arthur Peterson who, in the 1920s, founded what was then
a building company. Later he was joined by his son Virgil and,
eventually, daughter-in-law Olive. By now the business had widened
to accomodate funeral services and it was Virgil who ultimately
decided the two enterprises should be run as seperate businesses;
thus V A Peterson Funeral Service was born. In 1959 we moved into
Woodside House. Set in six acres of parkland, it was ideal for
the company, an oasis of calm away from the busy road and the
bustle of the new town springing up all around. Virgil died in
1970 and his wife, Olive, who had ably balanced the demands of
their expanding business with bringing up her family, supported
her sons, Bryn and Clive Peterson, whose wish was that the family
name should continue to be a watchword for quality and care in
Cwmbran and surrounding areas. Clive's son David joined the company
in 1984. All three hold Diplomas in Funeral Directing (Dip.FD)
and are Members of the British Institute of Funeral Directors
(MBIFD).
We
have served our community through four generations, during which
time we have seen many changes. But one thing never changes -
the loss of a loved one. It affects us all in different ways and
we will all require varying degrees of support from family and
friends - and the funeral director, whose role must be to ease
the burden and give peace of mind.
V
A Peterson remains an independent family-orientated firm and we
are secure in the knowledge that we can provide the care, compassion
and skills necessary to support and guide families through this
highly emotional and difficult time. At the heart of our business
is the certainty that we offer a high-quality, first-class personal
service which, above all, acknowledges the individual needs and
requirements of our clients.
